How the ferry system works in the Bay of Naples
Three companies, two ports, and a summer-only ring around the Amalfi Coast.

Companies and routes
Caremar — the workhorse: Naples to Capri/Ischia/Procida, year-round, big slow ferries that take cars. Tickets €15–20.
SNAV and NLG — fast hydrofoils: same destinations, half the time, no cars, €25–30.
Travelmar — summer only, Salerno–Amalfi–Positano. The only direct ferry route along the coast.
Booking tips
Buy direct on each company's website — the aggregators add fees and sometimes show stale availability. Print the confirmation; the apps don't always work at the ports.
August departures sell out a week in advance for popular routes (Naples → Capri morning ferries). May, June, September are flexible.
