Itineraries

Ravello in 24 hours

Two villas, one belvedere, one concert at sunset — and where to actually sleep.

The two villas

Villa Rufolo's gardens were Wagner's inspiration for Parsifal's magic garden; the views from the terrace ('Terrazza dell'Infinito') across the Gulf of Salerno are unimprovable.

Villa Cimbrone, twenty minutes' walk up Via Santa Chiara, has the same view from a higher angle plus the statue-lined Terrazza dell'Infinito that's photographed more than any other terrace on the coast.

Ravello Festival

From late June to early September, the Ravello Festival stages classical and jazz concerts on a stage built out over the cliff at Villa Rufolo. Tickets €30–80; book three weeks ahead. Few concert venues in Europe match this one.

Where to stay

Our homes in Ravello

1,200 feet above the sea — Villa Cimbrone's belvedere, the summer music festival, and the calm aristocratic counterpoint to Positano's bustle.

There's no single right answer. The right transfer depends on your luggage, your group size, when you arrive, and where on the coast you're staying.
