Campania with kids — a seven-day plan

Base in Sorrento

Sorrento is the most kid-friendly town on the bay — flat centre, gelaterias everywhere, ferries to everything, two pedestrian beaches with shallow water. The Circumvesuviana to Pompeii is 25 minutes; the ferry to Capri 30 minutes.

Days 1–2: Sorrento centre, Bagni della Regina Giovanna. Day 3: Pompei (morning only). Day 4: Capri (whole day). Day 5: Ferry to Positano. Day 6: Path of the Lemons walk (Maiori to Minori, flat, 45 min). Day 7: rest day, gelato, pool.

Where to stay

Our homes in Sorrento

The classic balcony over the Bay of Naples — citrus groves, belle-époque hotels, and the easiest gateway to Capri, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast.

There's no single right answer. The right transfer depends on your luggage, your group size, when you arrive, and where on the coast you're staying.

You eat your way through Naples or you don't really visit it. Five stops, three hours, two pockets full of paper cones.
