Campania Jazz Med Festival 2026: Naples' Jazz Weekend Returns October 23–25
Three nights of contemporary jazz inside the cloister of Santa Maria la Nova, in the heart of Naples' historic center.
What is the Campania Jazz Med Festival?
The Campania Jazz Med Festival is a small, focused contemporary-jazz series staged inside the cloister of the Complesso Monumentale di Santa Maria la Nova, a 16th-century monastery a few minutes' walk from Piazza Municipio and the Maschio Angioino. Rather than a sprawling multi-venue programme, it runs three evening concerts on three consecutive nights, each built around a single act, in a cloister that seats a relatively small audience — closer to a chamber concert than a festival crowd.
The 2026 dates are Friday 23, Saturday 24, and Sunday 25 October, with each concert starting at 9pm.
Who's playing, and how do you get tickets?
Friday opens with Swiss pianist Nik Bärtsch and clarinettist Sha performing as Sha Duo, known for their spare, repetitive 'Ritual Groove Music.' Saturday brings Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas — from Recife, one of contemporary jazz's more distinctive solo voices — for a piano-solo set. Sunday closes with Neapolitan pianist and composer Elisabetta Serio leading an acoustic trio through jazz standards and improvisation.
Tickets are sold through VivaTicket, per evening; check the festival's VivaTicket listing closer to the date for exact pricing, since it wasn't yet published at the time of writing.
Is it worth planning a trip around?
Santa Maria la Nova sits right in the historic center, an easy walk from Via Toledo, the Quartieri Spagnoli, and the Duomo — so a festival evening folds naturally into a weekend already built around Spaccanapoli and the old city rather than requiring a special trip out. Late October is also a comfortable stretch to be walking Naples: past the summer heat, before the wettest part of winter.
Naples' Capodichino airport connects directly to most European hubs, and the historic center is a short taxi or metro ride away (Municipio or Toledo stops on Line 1).
