New Pizzeria in Naples: Federico Guardascione Opens on the Waterfront
The Vomero pizzaiolo known for long-fermented dough and a serious gluten-free menu opened a second address on Via Nazario Sauro in mid-July.
What opened, and where?
Federico Guardascione, whose original pizzeria on Via Cilea in Vomero built a following on high-hydration dough fermented up to 48 hours, opened a second location on the Naples waterfront on Wednesday 15 July 2026, first reported by NapoliToday and Dissapore. The new address is Via Nazario Sauro 21, on the strip of restaurants and pizzerias running along the seafront near Santa Lucia and Castel dell'Ovo.
The menu carries over the same dough philosophy — a range that includes a five-grain base and a squid-ink version, alongside a dedicated gluten-free option that Dissapore's review singled out as genuinely good rather than an afterthought. The room is modern, with an open oven visible from the tables, and the wine list stays affordable, with glasses from around €5-6.
Worth the detour?
The seafront around Via Nazario Sauro already has a dense cluster of restaurants trading on the view of Castel dell'Ovo and the bay; Guardascione's arrival adds a serious pizza option to a strip that leans mostly toward seafood and tourist-menu trattorias. It's an easy stop to fold into an evening walk along the Lungomare Caracciolo rather than a destination that needs its own separate trip — worth calling ahead on a summer evening, since the seafront fills up fast after 20:00 in August.
