MANNight 2026: Evening Openings at Naples' Archaeological Museum, September–October
Music, dance and contemporary art take over the MANN's ancient galleries after dark on eight Thursday and Saturday evenings, with a €10 ticket after 7pm.
What is MANNight?
MANNight — subtitled Il futuro incontra il passato, "the future meets the past" — is a season of extraordinary evening openings at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli (MANN), the museum that holds the finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum. Rather than a standard after-hours visit, each date threads music, dance, multimedia installations, living tableaux, body painting and DJ sets through the permanent collections, with short performances repeating at intervals from 8:30pm across different rooms of the museum.
It's a way of seeing statues and frescoes most visitors only pass at midday — the Farnese Hercules, the Alexander Mosaic, the Secret Cabinet — under a completely different kind of evening programming, without competing with a daytime queue.
When exactly, and what does it cost?
The September dates fall on Thursdays 3, 10 and 17, plus a special Saturday 26 September tied to the European Heritage Days; the cycle continues into October on Thursdays 1, 8, 15 and 22. On each date the museum stays open from 8:30pm to 11:30pm, with last entry at 10:30pm. A discounted evening ticket costs €10 from 7pm onward, on top of whatever a same-day daytime ticket would already cost.
Is it worth planning an evening around?
It suits anyone who's already spent a hot Naples afternoon somewhere else and wants a cooler, emptier version of the museum rather than a rushed add-on to a packed sightseeing day — arriving at 7pm buys the discounted rate and a full evening inside. The museum sits right by the Piazza Cavour and Museo metro stops on Line 1, an easy stop on the way back from a Spaccanapoli or Quartieri Spagnoli evening out.
