Mimmo Jodice in Color: Naples' Tribute Exhibition at the Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro

Jodice died on 28 October 2025 at 91, and internationally he was known almost entirely for black-and-white images of Naples, the Mediterranean, and its ruins — the visual language that made him one of Italy's most exhibited photographers. "Il colore di Mimmo Jodice" is the first major tribute exhibition since his death, and it deliberately sidesteps the expected retrospective in favor of a body of color work most visitors, even those who know his black-and-white photographs well, will not have seen.

Admission to the Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro starts at around €13, the same ticket that covers the permanent Treasure collection — the Jodice photographs are folded into the existing route rather than requiring a separate booking. The museum sits right off Via Duomo, an easy add-on to a walk down Spaccanapoli or a visit to the Duomo itself. Because the show runs into January 2027, there's no need to rush it into a short trip: an autumn or winter visit will likely mean a quieter museum than the summer months bring.
