Wizz Air Naples: New Flights to Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao From December 2026
A third Airbus A321neo based at Capodichino unlocks three new Spanish routes this winter — schedules, frequencies, and what changes for anyone flying into Naples.
What are Wizz Air's new routes from Naples, and when do they start?
Naples' Capodichino airport is getting three new international connections this winter, all from Wizz Air. The Hungarian low-cost carrier confirmed on 18 May 2026 that it will base a third Airbus A321neo in Naples from 14 December, the aircraft behind three new Spanish routes launching that same day: Naples–Barcelona, flying daily; Naples–Madrid, four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays; and Naples–Bilbao, three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — Naples' first direct link to the Basque Country.
The announcement, first reported by NapoliMagazine and confirmed by Salernonotizie and the aviation trade site MD80.it, puts the expansion at around 500,000 additional seats to and from Capodichino. Wizz Air is also lifting its existing Naples–Venice service from 11 to 14 weekly flights for the winter season, and says the airport's network now runs to 23 routes across 13 countries — its widest at Naples to date.
What do the new routes cost, and are they useful for a Naples or Amalfi Coast trip?
Tickets for all three routes are already on sale on wizzair.com and the WIZZ app, with introductory fares starting from €24.99 one-way — worth booking early, since low-cost carriers tend to raise winter fares as December approaches rather than the other way round. Because these are new routes rather than added frequencies on an existing one, they're also the first direct flights between Naples and Bilbao, and among the more frequent options to Barcelona and Madrid, both previously reachable mostly via a connection through Rome or Milan.
For anyone planning a Naples, Sorrento or Amalfi Coast trip over the winter holidays from Spain, that means one less layover: Capodichino sits around 20 minutes by taxi or Alibus shuttle from the centro storico, close enough that a daily Barcelona flight makes a long weekend in Naples over Christmas or New Year genuinely realistic rather than a full day of travel each way.
How does this fit with Capodichino's runway closure this autumn?
The new routes launch just two weeks after Capodichino is due to reopen: the airport closes for roughly three weeks in November 2026 for runway resurfacing, with flights rerouted mainly through Salerno's airport in the meantime. Wizz Air's own December launch date suggests the airline is treating the reopening as the natural moment to add capacity rather than something to work around — worth knowing if a flight search this autumn turns up unusually few direct options for early-to-mid November, since that gap closes as soon as Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao come on stream on the 14th.
