A free, citywide celebration for SSC Napoli's 100th birthday takes over Piazza del Plebiscito and the centro storico on Saturday 1 August — here's how to get in.
What is Napoli 100, and when is it?
SSC Napoli was founded in 1926, and on Saturday 1 August 2026 the club's 100th birthday gets a free, city-organised party rather than a stadium event. The Comune di Napoli and Regione Campania have turned the historic centre into the venue: the Processione Azzurra sets off at 19:26 — the year of the club's founding, used as the start time — from Piazza Carità and moves through the centro storico toward Piazza del Plebiscito.
The official Centenary Ceremony opens at 20:45 in the Plebiscito itself, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, historic club legends, and the current squad under coach Massimiliano Allegri on stage together — music, archive footage, and testimonials tracing a century of the club rather than a straight football event. It's the flagship date in a full year of Napoli 100 celebrations running through 2026.
How do you get a spot in Piazza del Plebiscito?
Every part of Napoli 100 is free, but the Plebiscito itself needs a free registration through TicketOne, opening Wednesday 29 July 2026 at 15:00 and running until capacity is reached — so it's worth registering the moment it opens rather than waiting. On the night, the gates into the square open at 18:45, with entry only from the Piazza Trieste e Trento side, ahead of the Processione Azzurra's arrival.
If you don't secure a Plebiscito spot, the square isn't the only place to be: Piazza Municipio hosts a Pizza Village giving out free slices during the evening, and the celebrations close with the Notte Azzurra — the city's landmark monuments lit blue and a fireworks display visible from well beyond the historic centre.
Planning around it if you're in Naples that weekend
Whether or not football is the reason for your trip, 1 August is worth building into a Naples visit rather than around it: expect the stretch between Piazza Carità, Via Toledo, and Piazza del Plebiscito to be pedestrianised and busy from mid-afternoon, with knock-on effects for buses and taxis through the centro storico that evening. Book dinner reservations near Piazza Municipio or the Lungomare early, or plan to eat before the Processione Azzurra sets off at 19:26.
