Alba alla Reggia 2026: Sunrise Opening at the Reggia di Caserta, 29 August
The royal park opens its gates at 4:30am for one last morning this summer, with a breakfast terrace and live music timed to sunrise.
What is Alba alla Reggia, and when is the next one?
After a first edition on 1 August, the Reggia di Caserta — the Bourbon palace routinely compared to Versailles — opens its gates at 4:30am one more time this summer, on Friday 29 August 2026. The museum, run by Italy's Ministry of Culture, lets visitors walk the Real Bosco (royal park) and Giardino Inglese (English Garden) before the day's heat and before the tour buses arrive. First reported by Il Mattino and confirmed on the Reggia's official site.
The 29 August date carries a program the first didn't have: live performances timed to the early light from Progetto Sonora and the Arabesque Dance Company, staged along the park's avenues as the sun comes up over the fountains.
Tickets and hours
Two ticket options: Parco Reale e Giardino Inglese only, €10, or Appartamenti + Parco Reale e Giardino Inglese, €18. Buy in advance on TicketOne or at the box office in Piazza Carlo di Borbone — arrive by 4:30am, since the appeal is the empty park at first light, not a leisurely start.
The Royal Apartments keep their usual hours and open separately from 8:30am; the early ticket covers only the park and gardens. The café inside the Cannocchiale and the panoramic terrace near the Fontana di Diana e Atteone open for breakfast, though the meal itself isn't included in the ticket price.
Worth the early alarm?
The Reggia's park runs for 3km in a straight line from the palace to the Fontana di Diana e Atteone, and at midday in late August it's one of the least comfortable places in Campania to walk. At 4:30am it's the opposite: cool air, empty avenues, and the fountains running before anyone else arrives. Caserta is about 40 minutes from Naples on the regional train from Napoli Centrale, which makes this a realistic early outing for anyone based in Naples rather than an overnight trip.
