Anacapri's Festival del Paesaggio 2026: Dates, Artists, and What's New
The landscape-art festival turns ten this year, filling Villa San Michele's garden with eight international artists and, for the first time, evening video projections.
What is the Festival del Paesaggio, and when does it run in 2026?
The Festival del Paesaggio di Anacapri is a contemporary-art exhibition staged every autumn in the garden and rooms of Villa San Michele, the hilltop house the Swedish physician Axel Munthe built above Capri town at the turn of the 20th century. For its 10th edition, titled "The Observer" and curated by Arianna Rosica and Gianluca Riccio, the festival runs from 6 September to 3 November 2026 — as first reported by NapoliToday and Capri Press.
Eight international artists take part this year: Francis Alÿs, Ali Cherri, Irene Fenara, Andrea Francolino, Eva Giolo, Elisa Sighicelli, Luca Vitone, and Klara Zetterholm, showing installations and site-specific works spread through the villa's rooms and along its garden paths overlooking the Bay of Naples.
What's new about this year's edition?
For the first time in the festival's history, the programme adds evening outdoor screenings — short videos by the participating artists projected in Villa San Michele's garden after dark, extending a visit that's usually a daytime-only affair into the evening. Andrea Francolino also contributes a standalone piece, The Flag Project, as one of the festival's special commissions.
The tenth-anniversary framing gives the 2026 edition a slightly larger footprint than recent years, with the roughly two-month run giving visitors more flexibility than the festival's shorter early editions.
How do I visit, and how do I get there?
Villa San Michele's standard admission — €11 full price, free under 18 — is the same ticket that gets you into the festival displays during normal opening hours; the evening projections are a separate addition to the calendar, so check the festival's own channels closer to your visit for exact screening dates and times. From Capri town, the bus up to Anacapri takes about 15 minutes, and Villa San Michele is a short walk from the Anacapri bus stop through the village centre.
Early September still carries some late-summer crowds, but by October the gardens are noticeably quieter — worth knowing if you'd rather have Munthe's belvedere over the bay mostly to yourself.
