Where to eat along the America's Cup race course in Naples
Racing is planned for 14:00, the promenade has almost no kiosks left and the best tables face the castle. How to eat well between Santa Lucia and Mergellina without missing a start.

The race-day rhythm — 12:30 or after 20:30
Where to eat during the America's Cup 2027 in Naples is a question of timing before it is one of restaurants. Racing is planned from 14:00, directly off the Lungomare Caracciolo between Castel dell'Ovo and Posillipo, and in the hour before the start the bars fill at once. Our rule: sit down at 12:30 and be back on the sea wall by 13:45, or eat properly after 20:30, when the terraces turn over.
Locally, lunch runs from about 12:30 to 15:00 and dinner from around 20:00. In September 2026 the Rotonda Diaz Race Village had its own answer — twelve food operators, items at €5–10 and cashless-only payment as reported by the food blog Wine&Thecity; the stands ran from 11:00 to 20:30–22:00 depending on the day. A precedent only: the 2027 line-up has not been announced.
Water matters more than lunch. The promenade has almost no kiosks left — nineteen closed chalets were ordered removed in August 2026, and the mayor said they would never reopen on the sea side — and the Rotonda Diaz has no permanent bar. Carry a refillable bottle: free Comune water points existed at the Rotonda in summer 2026 but are not guaranteed for 2027. And July heat is real: a year before the 2027 Final and Match windows, Naples was on red heat alert on 29 June–1 July and again on 19–22 July 2026 — something to plan for, not a forecast.
Santa Lucia and the Borgo Marinari — the nearest tables
The harbour at the foot of Castel dell'Ovo is the castle end of the course, and its restaurants have the tables nearest the water. Three seafood restaurants: La Bersagliera at Borgo Marinari 10/11, with a TheFork average of about €35 a head as of October 2026; Zi' Teresa at Via Borgo Marinari 1; Il Transatlantico at Via Luculliana 15. None is cheap — as our Lungomare walk says, the same plates cost half in the Pignasecca.
On booking, two September 2026 reports disagree. Local press described seafront restaurants sold out (Napolità, citing Repubblica); Cronache di Napoli, on 28 September, found bars and restaurants far from full and parking impossible. Our reading: the Borgo goes first on the big days, the rest is normal. For the Louis Vuitton Cup Final or the Match, phone weeks ahead, and confirm closing days the same way — La Bersagliera's own site lists both 'Monday to Sunday' and 'closed Tuesday'.
Via Partenope and the Rotonda Diaz — pizza facing the castle
Via Partenope was still being rebuilt in autumn 2026 — final works scheduled to run until 30 November, the Comune aiming for Christmas — and councillor Edoardo Cosenza has said it will stay pedestrian except for emergencies. Four addresses between numbers 26 and 34 belong to one group — Antonio & Antonio, on Via Partenope since 1999, with Gusto&Gusto, Inmezzo and Acquolina — restaurant-pizzerie facing the castle, and with Piazza Vittoria and Via Calabritto the nearest fixed bars to the Rotonda Diaz, so expect them to fill by 13:30 on race days.
For a takeaway lunch, rosticceria: L.U.I.S.E. at Via Toledo 266, since 1966, for crocchè, frittatine and rustici — well inland, so buy on the way down; the Piazza dei Martiri branch is nearer, check it is open. For a proper pizza ten minutes' walk from the Rotonda: Umberto at Via Alabardieri 30, founded in 1916 per Dissapore and italia.it and an Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana member, and Pizzeria Salvo at Riviera di Chiaia 271, listed by 50 Top Pizza. Book three to five days ahead, as Neapolitans do.
Chiaia — aperitivo, fish counters and gelato
Chiaia is where the day ends. Gran Caffè La Caffettiera at Piazza dei Martiri 26 is the aperitivo institution, open from early morning to late evening per its site, terrace at a supplement; a street back, Enoteca Belledonne at Vico Belledonne a Chiaia 18 is a well-known wine bar, reportedly packed between 20:00 and 21:00. Both: phone before you go.
The fish is in the lanes: Pescheria Mattiucci at Vico Belledonne a Chiaia 27 is a fishmonger with a dozen seats for crudo, reported closed Monday — book, and check before you go. For gelato, Il Gelato Mennella on Via Carducci, which ran the 2026 village's stand.
The baretti have rules. A summer 2026 ordinance closed the lanes' bars at 1:00 Sunday to Thursday and 2:00 Friday and Saturday and banned takeaway drinks from 22:30 to 6:00; the TAR and the Consiglio di Stato refused to suspend it. It expired on 1 October 2026; expect similar seasonal limits in summer 2027 and check comune.napoli.it. The lanes are also a camera-controlled ZTL — never drive in.
Mergellina and Posillipo — graffe, 50 Kalò and the sea
At the western end the evening belongs to Chalet Ciro 1952 on Via Caracciolo at Mergellina, for a graffa or a chantilly cornetto. Three hundred metres inland, 50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo at Piazza Sannazaro 201 was 5th in 50 Top Pizza Italia 2026 and 14th in the world; no bookings at Sannazaro, so queue early or late.
Posillipo's sea restaurants are for a non-race day or a late dinner, because the hill is slow going when the race crowds are out: bus 140 along Via Posillipo, roughly every 15–20 minutes, and the Mergellina funicular was closed as of early October 2026 (replacement bus 621) — check anm.it. Rosiello at Via Santo Strato a Posillipo 10, seafood since 1933 with a bay-view terrace, reported closed Wednesday; Palazzo Petrucci, on the Posillipo beach by Palazzo Donn'Anna, formerly Michelin-starred; Casa Rosebery at Via Ferdinando Russo 13 in the Riva Fiorita cove, tasting menus of €40, €50 and €80 as listed in October 2026. Confirm each by phone.
The local rule, last: on an ordinary evening Neapolitans do not dine on the seafront, they walk it. From about 19:00 the passeggiata runs along Via Caracciolo; they sit down around 21:00, usually a street or two back, leaving the castle-view terraces to visitors. In race weeks do the same: watch at 14:00, walk at 19:00, eat at 21:00, and book the one seafront table you want for the day that matters. We at Vesuview are a Naples team and eat this way; that is the whole secret.
